You all may have worked or still work on your laptops or desktop computers
but hardly must anyone of you have paid attention to the keyboard keys
or noticed something weird about them. Well, two of the alphabet keys on
the keyboard carry little ridges over them. By far, you must have
placed your fingers wrongly at times while typing over a keyboard. But
now after this article, I am pretty sure you will learn the accurate
method to use a keyboard.
These two keys are 'F' and 'J'. Let's know why there's a lifted ridge on both the keys.
All modern keyboards have this feature
F and J ridges were invented in 2002
These keys are referred to as home row and the raised bumps were invented by June E Botich in 2002.
Reason behind these bumps over F and J keys
The keys help us in correct positioning of our fingers
without actually looking at the keyboard and in case you fly off the
handle.
Improves typing speed
Precisely, the bumps help in speed typing and improve our command over the use of the keyboard.
Use index fingers to place them over F and J keys
Place index fingers of your left and right hands over F and J keys in a manner that is ideal for touch typing.
When you place index fingers on ridged keys:
Your left-hand covers 'A, S, D and F', while right one covers ' J, K, L and colon' keys of a keyboard. After placing your left and right hand in a directed manner, ensure that both the thumbs rest on the space bar.
