Have you ever come up with a viral Tweet only to see it copied
by another user who does not credit for it ? Worry not because Twitter has
started a crackdown on such ‘thieves’ deleting their tweets on grounds of
copyright infringement.
The Verge reports that Twitter started taking down tweets of stolen jokes
after a Los Angeles-based freelance writer Olga Lexell spotted that one of her
Twitter jokes was being reposted by others without her permission.
Olga then filed a request to have the tweets removed because
most of the were reusing her tweets were spam accounts who did not have her
permission to repost them without giving her credit.
Twitter responded by deleting the
jokes and has now a media website’s policy to give the offender 10 days to file
a counter notice.
